JOEL S. GOLDSMITH: THE 1964 LONDON STUDIO CLASS "An Act of Commitment; The Womb of Creation,’" Tape 2, Side 1 As I sat upstairs in meditation, the title came to me, "The Womb of Silence," and it was as if there were a tremendous silence, large, round, and this was the Womb out of which all creation came. All creation was formed in this womb of Silence. There wasn’t a man, but there was a universe. The earth, the rocks, the trees, the streams, the seas, skies, suns, moons, planets: all of this is a huge unfoldment flowing forth from this huge Womb of a penetrating, complete - more than stillness - absolute silence, quietness. It moves as if in a rhythm, and this rhythm not only forms it and places it but sustains creation, everything in its rightful place. You can see, looking out into this universe, that there is snow and ice in the north and warmth in the south, flowers and trees of one nature in the north, another in the south, and this rhythm, the rhythm that is flowing from that Silence, maintains and sustains this creation beautifully, all in its order. Eventually, man appears here and there on the face of the globe, also maintained by this rhythm that flows within his consciousness, but it is a flow of rhythm that maintains the activity of the body, the organs and the functions. Everything seems to be susceptible to this rhythm, and all of this rhythm is flowing forth from that Womb into form: grace, beauty, order, peace. The relationship between all of this created form is harmonious. We would use the word "love," or "loving," but there is no such thing there as love or loving, there is only a naturalness of peace, contentment. This is the rhythm of the universe. Whenever anything goes wrong in our experience, it is because we are out of attunement with this rhythm. You can see the Willow tree, how it moves with the breeze, almost flows with the breeze, and then you can imagine what would happen if it were to try to stand erect in that breeze or resist it: it would be broken. So, man is broken the moment he is moving outside of the rhythm, outside of the flow that brought him into manifestation and expression. The rhythm from the Source maintains all of creation in harmony, in law and order, and whatever it is that permits us to move in a way of our own, a will of our, a direction of our own, removes us from the flow of the rhythm. Then we are either in opposition to it or trying to stand erect in the face of it. Every sense of discord and inharmony that touches our experience is an evidence that we are out of alignment or out of attunement with the rhythm of the universe, and discord and inharmony is going to persist in our experience until we are once more spiritually, rhythmically attuned. For Meditation: "It is impossible to realize God as long as one has in mind a ‘purpose’ or ‘object’ other than realizing God." - Joel, Wisdom #30. For Study: THE MYSTICAL I, Chapter 10. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1 - 12:30 P.M. VIRGINIA STEPHENSON: THE 2004 PHOENIX CLASS "Peace, Poise, Power," Tape 2, Side 2 (No. 0435) There was a wonderful little love poem in this book that was given to me, and this is by a mystic in the 13th Century: "After all this time, the sun never says to the earth, ‘You owe me one!’ Look what happens with a love like that: It lights the world." So, this is the way we’d like to be, just like the sun. We’re shining; we’re shining light of love and freedom and joy and harmony and peace, because that is the way God feels, and it’s our destiny to experience God, and to experience God, this is what you experience. So, it is nothing mysterious. It’s Omnipresence. ... When you let your love go forth, don’t think, "Well, you owe me one." No, you love. I remember what Mrs. Eddy said: "I love whom, I love what, I love where; I just love." You know, one of her last rides around her home, she looked at a man, and the love that exchanged opened his blind eyes. We’re the embodiment of love; it’s our hidden treasure, it’s our hidden manna, and we’re not looking to get it. If you look to get it from someone, you’re never going to receive it, because it’s a mystery to everyone. It’s the hidden treasure that is "buried in the earth, and when a man finds it, he sells all that he has, for that treasure." So, that treasure is ours, and we’ve found the way that it comes forth is in our oneness with God, with divine Consciousness, the oneness with the I that I am: I am infinite Love, and the more I pour, the more I have; it multiplies itself. Such poverty of spirit in so many people. They’re bereft of love! They’re looking for it some place other than within themselves. When they find it within themselves, they are the most contented beings, because what greater contentment is there than to be able to be at repose, whatever age, whatever conditions, and be at peace with yourself and feel that unspeakable Love and refinement of Being. It’s so wonderful! GENESIS, Awakening From the Dream, by Virginia Stephenson, Chapter 10: "The Seventh Day: Resting In My Kingdom." On the seventh day, God finished His work. Creation is complete, blessed, and holy. By grace, Consciousness unfolds individually the spiritual idea of heaven and earth, and in this experience is fulfillment and rest. God rests in action, satisfied in all the He has made. On the seventh day, which means fulfillment, we abide in our oneness with the Tree of Life, and the flaming sword, the spiritual Word, uttered or unexpressed, is our protection. Now we live in a finished kingdom, not a world evolving toward perfection. This kingdom appears as the unfoldment of spiritual consciousness from its infinite Source. Our understanding of prayer is spiritually based on one power, one presence, one law, one cause, and one activity, and that One, infinite Spirit, or Consciousness. All conflict has ceased, and Love reigns supreme. Creation, unfolding from this perfect spiritual principle of Oneness, expresses and reveals the beauty of Being, which is fulfilling Itself as your consciousness and mine. Each of us at this level of awareness experiences Life as the unlabored action of Love, not through getting, but by letting Consciousness reveal Itself as creation in ever new forms of light and love. This new experience of beholding Omniaction is restful and peaceful. Having completed our six days of labor, we now totally agree with the truth of spiritual creation. In our total agreement that God is the only cause, we have laid aside all material causation as power. We stand absolutely divested of reliance on any human concept. Now, we enter that state of consciousness called the Sabbath rest, which is unceasing prayer. In this rest, nothing is concealed; all creation is revealed as it truly is. We are fully awake to the ever present Divinity within our humanity, and in this Presence we put our trust. Now, as we are aware of our pre-existence with God, as Jesus was, and we understand his prayer of Oneness: "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was." [John 17:5] "And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one." [John 17:22] In this altitude of prayer, we are "... joint-heirs with Christ..." [Romans 8:17] to the heavenly riches. ... The spiritual idea of government is that all men be governed harmoniously from within through spiritual law, and a law that gives everyone equal opportunity to bring forth into expression their individual potential. As we hold to the fact that the government is on God’s shoulder, then our form of government will reflect this spiritual reality, first individually, then collectively. We must not be tricked into thinking that any form of human government can ever give us our total freedom. The only government that can give us spiritual freedom is individual Self-government, and that we have now, regardless of what the outer scene is. The realization that I am as God created me, Self-maintained, Self-sustained, Self-contained, is the highest altitude of prayer. Abiding in this truth, sacredly, secretly, and silently, opens us to God’s government. We realize that "... whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it ..." [Ecclesiastes 3:14] Spirit is the catalyst. When the Christ-truth enters human consciousness, upheavals will occur where there is tyranny. Those who have no freedom will want to fight for it, just as in our background we fought for our freedom. Violent change, however, will never establish the kind of government that mankind is longing for. The real revolution takes place within ourselves as we are freed from attachment to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and are living on the Tree of Life, looking inward instead of outward. What will bring peace to earth? Only with the realization that God is omnipresent as individual being is the Christ-peace restored to earth as it is in heaven. We witness our divine Selfhood, the Christ, operating automatically, and we see the great simplicity and profundity of grace and truth. ... The true mystic lives a very private life alone with his or her own Being, resting in spiritual awareness, walking the narrow way, which allows no room for the personal sense of I. The song of Soul continually sings in the heart of the mystic: "I am in the Father, and the Father is in me. I will never leave me nor forsake me. I will be with me until the end of all illusions, all misconceptions. For Meditation: GENESIS 2:1-3 For Study: GENESIS, Awakening From the Dream, Chapter 10. SIGNPOSTS "God is omniactive. When we sit down to pray or to meditate, we are not turning God on; we are not inaugurating God-action. WE have put up our sword, our mental sword as well as our physical sword, and we are entering into the Sabbath rest in which we invite this divine Presence to regenerate and renew us, and to reveal our original perfection." - Virginia ***************************************************************************************************************************************** SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15- at THE INN OF CHICAGO - 11:00 A.M. JOEL S. GOLDSMITH: THE 1963 LONDON WORK "The New Message 1963," Tape 2, Side 1 First of all, to remind you that you have a secret heretofore unknown in the world, and that is that God is consciousness, and that this Consciousness is the consciousness of individual man, yours or anyone’s, saint or sinner, anywhere, any time; God is consciousness. This has not been known, and Consciousness, being infinite, is the consciousness of individual man. Therefore, the only place that man has to go for anything is to his consciousness, the consciousness of his own Being. He does not have to go to holy mountains, holy temples, holy teachers, he has only to go within, to his own consciousness. You have another secret heretofore unknown, that since God is spirit, you can only go to God for things of the spirit, you cannot pray to God for temporal good, whether it is physical health or physical wealth, whether it is peace on earth: you cannot go to God for temporal good. The fact of the world doing this for thousands of years, and has brought us to the mess in which we find ourselves, should be proof that this is true. Secondly, the fact that some few have learned this secret, and have learned to go to the kingdom of God within themselves FOR ONLY SPIRITUAL GRACE, for the things of God or the kingdom of God, and have found their peace, this must be the further proof. It is folly to seek to be a practitioner or a teacher, because it can’t succeed. That is why I remind the students so often that it is deadly to be a "do-gooder." It is deadly to want to save this world. It is deadly to want to be a practitioner or a teacher. The only life-giving substance there is is the desire to know God aright. This alone is worth while. Let the rest of the world burn up, because you can’t stop it anyhow, regardless of how good your wishes may be. You will never be able to help this world until you, yourself, have spiritually attained. Therefore, leave this world alone, and if it must burn itself up, let it, while you go about your business of attaining spiritual consciousness. Then you will find that having attained it, you’ll be busier than you’d like to be, because then the world will beat a pathway to your door. They can’t help it: wherever the Light is, the darkness just gravitates there to be dispelled. For Meditation: "I swear the earth shall surely be complete to him or her who shall be complete. The earth remains jagged or broken only to him or her who remains jagged or broken." - Walt Whitman For Study: I STAND UPON HOLY GROUND, Chapter 10. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15 - 12:30 P.M. JOHN STEPHENSON: THE 2006 WAIKIKI CLASS "The Rock," Tape 3, Side 1 (No. 0603) The principle that is given to make this "translation," so to speak, to keep our awareness and our attunement to the Spirit, even while in the midst of our daily activities, is impersonalization. Now, that’s a hard word, and it’s a difficult concept, because what does impersonalization really mean? From a more ego standpoint, impersonalization means, "I’m not going to have anything to do with you. ... I’m aloof, I’m not involved, ... I really could care less what is happening to you." It seems to be the antithesis of oneness. How can we just be completely non-involved with those around us and still say that we are practicing love? Jesus even said, "That which you do unto the least of these my brethren, you do unto me." So, impersonalization is not a lack of caring, it’s not a lack of love, it’s not indifference, but it is seeing the activities of "this world," the activities of the ego-based world from this spiritual dimension; because this spiritual dimension is ONE. If there is one, how could you have another? How could you have another person? How could you have ten or twenty persons, or a million persons? You have only one. The moment you move out of having one, you’re going into the ego-based sense of separation: God and man, me and you, me against the world, and oh-boy, that’s a real tough place to be; but the moment that we realize that there is only one, we have impersonalized this appearance of persons, because in "ONE" there is only one person. Impersonalization is taking the concepts we have of the world, of society, of our own life and our own situation, and bringing that within, into the oneness of spiritual identification. In my oneness with Spirit, I am one with all spiritual form, all spiritual idea, all spiritual creation. So, what does that include? That includes everything that we are witnessing, but it includes it in our consciousness, not from the ego-dimension, not from the personal sense of life. For Study: I STAND ON HOLY GROUND, Pg. 191: "God the Rock;" and THE ART OF SPIRITUAL LIVING, Chapter 11. ******************************************************************************************************************************************* TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24 at 259 SKYLINE DR., CARPENTERSVILLE - 7:30 P.M. Class and Tape: LUELLA OVEREEM: THE 1974 MILL VALLEY CLOSED CLASS "World Work," Tape 2, Side 2 (Listen To This Tape!) Everybody here, certainly, has had experiences of God. We’ve experienced God; we’ve had beautiful experiences of feeling the presence of God, and yet, you wonder why everything isn’t healed, or why, at least, there isn’t some more progress being made. The thing that we’re supposed to do is to meditate and have the actual experience of the presence of God, and yet, the one thing that’s in the way of it, the one barrier, is that we haven’t had the experience of the nothingness of error. That’s the only thing that’s stopping you. If you are having God-experience in meditation, and yet it isn’t bearing fruitage, or isn’t bearing enough fruitage, that’s the reason, that you haven’t realized the nothingness of error. That’s what does the healing work. Everything already IS; God already IS. There’s nothing to heal, but what does the healing work, what brings through the fruitage isn’t something that God does, it’s our realization that appearances are nothing. Until we can actually believe it, accept it, the nothingness of appearances, we’ll go on experiencing the sins, diseases, and troubles of the world. For Meditation and Study: |
