EXCERPTS FROM TAPES, FOR STUDY, PRACTICE, AND MEDITATION

SUNDAY, MARCH 5 - at THE INN OF CHICAGO - 11:00 A.M.

JOEL S. GOLDSMITH: THE 1963 LONDON WORK

"The Unveiling," Tape 6, Side 2 (Continued From Side 1)

On the first side of this tape, there is the message of Tuesday night, which I have called "The Unveiling." The unveiling of what? The unveiling of God, the
unveiling of Truth, and by this you might imagine that there is a God or a Truth that could be unveiled and set before you, and such is not the case. The
"unveiling" reveals nothing that can be seen, heard, tasted, touched, or smelled, nothing that can be thought or reasoned. Therefore, when we say, "To
know Him aright is life eternal," it does seem strange that in order to know Him aright, we must come to a place in consciousness where we know
nothing, the
place, rather, of
unknowing. So it is that from the start of this Message, from the very first book, you have it revealed to you that God is not to be known, but
to be
experienced; and only when God is experienced do we have signs following, fruitage. We can talk about God, we can even discuss God, we can decide
to change the image of God, we can discover more synonyms for God, all of which is in the realm of play-toys; it's a game, an intellectual game. Actually, it's
a form of idolatry, the making of "graven images." Only instead of making these images out of gold or wood, we build them out of the substance of thought;
and so, we exchange one concept of God for another concept of God, and what we end up with is a concept of God, a thought of God. Then you can see
why prayer cannot be fruitful, as long as prayer is addressed to a thought of God, an image of God, a concept of God. What possible difference could it
make if you had a Christian concept, a Jewish concept, Vedantic concept, Buddhist concept, as long as all you have is a concept? How can a concept answer
prayer. How can a thought in your mind answer prayer? … You see, terminology can get us into a lot of trouble, and changing terminology can get us into
more trouble. "To know God aright is life eternal, " but there is no use of saying, "Oh, this isn't God, but
this is, because this is just changing terminology.
There is just no use of believing that one concept of God is of any greater spiritual significance than another concept of God.

Moses, in teaching that God is
beyond knowing, revealed, of course, what must forever stand: that is, that God is incorporeal, spiritual, and therefore, God
cannot be known with the mind. How then, are we to "know God aright?" One wonderful answer in the Bible is that God is in the "still small voice," or God is
revealed through the still small voice, and this would at least give us a cue. In the moment that we have no concept of God, nothing to pray to, when our mind
is completely in a listening attitude, now the vessel is emptied of all of its conceptions, and then what is revealed to us, through the still small voice, becomes
visible to us as the harmony of spiritual living. This, however, demands of us a great price, not only that we permit ourselves to be emptied of all concepts of
God, but that we also permit ourselves to be emptied of all beliefs that we know God's plan for us, God's laws for us, God's ways for us. If we can pray, "I
know not how to pray, or what things to pray for, but let Thy Spirit bear intercession with my spirit, we are coming into the highest possible attitude of prayer,
receptivity, and demonstration.

For Meditation: "To know that one has been functioning in the dream is the beginning of the awakening."

VIRGINIA STEPHENSON: THE 2003 ALBUQUERQUE CLASS

"The Law of Healing," Tape 2, Side 1 (No. 0331)

There's always a temptation to want to do away with words, but words are auxiliaries and helpful.
The greatest word there is is I: that is the Word that is made flesh. That is what you are, that is what I am, the
Word made flesh, the living Word. We've dethroned it through personalization, we've limited it by our education
and conditioning, and we've put ourselves in a prison house, many of us, limited sense of existence,
opportunity, unfoldment. All of it is self-imposed, has nothing to do with God or truth, it's all a misconception
through misperception. We look in the mirror, and we see a human concept of body, and we think, "This is the
I that I am;" but it isn't. It is the instrument or the vehicle through which and as which we find expression in
this phase of our experience. The
I that I am is consciousness. Without consciousness, I would have no
awareness of you, no awareness of anything real; no awareness of beauty, no awareness of eternality or
immortality. So that, it is consciousness that governs, maintains, and sustains our experience. So we have to
get acquainted with ourselves as consciousness. It's being "born again," born anew each day. And the "onion
skins" that must fall away is the past. Even if we have many achievements in the past, each day must be a new
experience. Otherwise we are not fulfilling that which we were created to fulfill. We were created for God's glory.

TUESDAY, MARCH 14 - at UNITY ON THE NORTH SHORE - 7:30 P.M.

GENESIS, Awakening From the Dream, by Virginia Stephenson, Chapter 3: "The Two Trees"

When the Master stood before Pilate, who represented the greatest temporal power on earth in his day, he said, "… My kingdom is not of this world: if my
kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight…" [John 18:36] To me, the Tree of Life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil signify "My
kingdom" and "this world."

If we consider "My kingdom" as a spiritual dimension governed by grace and truth, we can see that this corresponds to Genesis 1, which discloses the
oneness of God, man, and universe. That which the Master called "this world" corresponds to the Adam dream of Genesis 2 and 3, the mental realm that is
conditioned by the belief in good and evil, making this realm an arena of conflicting forces.

The two trees in the garden of Eden symbolize these two very different levels of awareness. As a branch on the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, we
are dependent on what we know. As a branch on the Tree of Life, we are dependent on Who we know, Whose wisdom is infinite, enlightening the mind and
filling the soul with peace.

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is the dream scene, the world of human concepts in which we struggle with the pairs of opposites, the pains and
pleasures of material sense, never realizing that we are making our own dream in accordance with our ignorance of spiritual principles. As the dreamer, we
have forgotten our Eden experiences, and therefore, our spiritual understanding is dormant. We are immersed in the fears and desires of the flesh. We are
not under the law, protection, or sustaining power of God, but are experiencing the human beliefs that we accept as true. The believer and the belief are one,
just as the dreamer and the dream are one.

The tree of Life is symbolized by an evergreen tree, such as the Christmas tree. The evergreen does not react to conditions of chance and change as does
the deciduous tree. It continually grows new needles or leaves before shedding the old ones. Some evergreens, such as the sequoias, live for thousands of
years and thus symbolize eternal life. Life is continually renewing itself as the life of the tree, which is the life of the seed, which is the life of the tree, eternally
unfolding as spiritual creation. In this creation there is only one life, one substance, on activity, one power, and this One is Spirit, God.

Creation is not a historical even taking place in time and space. It is the unfolding of divine Consciousness eternally now and completely spontaneous. It is
the dawning in individual awareness of the infinite nature and character of God, Who reveals heaven on earth. Through our recognition of spiritual principles
and the Presence within, a door is opened to us.

J
OEL S. GOLDSMITH: THE 1958 FIRST NEW YORK CLOSED CLASS
"Mind Imbued With Truth and the Temple," Tape 4, Side 2

We say, in this class work, and every enlightened metaphysician should be teaching this, that God has raised up his Temple, which this world is; and it is
perfect. You do not have to pray that the stars come out at night, or that the sun comes up tomorrow, or that rain comes in its season, or that fish swim in the
sea, or that birds fly in the air. You do not have to pray about that. You do not have to pray that roses come from rose bushes, or that apples come from
apple trees, or bananas from banana trees. You only have to sit and bear witness to the fact that God is doing this always. You don't have to pray to God to
heal your patient. You only have to sit and bear witness to the fact that God constitutes your patient, God is the very temple of your patient's body, God is
the very temple of your patient's health. God is the temple of your patient's wealth, God is the temple of your patient's or your student's business, art, or
profession, and you sit there knowing this in spite of ugly appearances. If you can hold to it with your spiritual vision, you will soon see that all of a sudden
you'll realize, "Why, that sky isn't sitting on the ocean, that was just a state of hypnotism! Why, that city isn't out there in the desert, that's a mirage!" How do
you know that? Some inner Thing will tell you. It will
deny the evidence of the senses, and it will convince you, "That water on the desert isn't water! Let's put
the car in gear and go forward;" and you'll go splashing right through the water that isn't there.

… So, one day you're going to discern that the nature of sin, disease, death, the nature of physicality, even good physicality, is illusion. Man doesn't live by
heart beats. "Man doesn't live by bread alone … ." No, man lives by the grace of God. Grace is the only word that should ever be used in a mystics mind or
heart or soul or being: grace. "Thy grace is
my sufficiency in all things." By thy grace I live. By thy grace I eat. By thy grace I eat. By thy grace I assimilate or
eliminate. By thy grace I earn. By thy grace I survive. By thy grace I am eternal. Not by bread, not by money, not by a heart or a liver or lung. No! My heart,
liver, or lung lives because I have the grace of God.

JOHN STEPHENSON: THE 2005 CHICAGO CLASS

"The Substance of Soul" Tape 2, Side 1 (No. 0524)

There was a student in San Francisco that brought me a paper about a mathematician trying to define infinity, and he worked and he worked, and eventually
he went insane. The nature of this Work is that we cannot figure it out, so we have to be comfortable in the mystery that is the spiritual dimension of life. Even
in the beginning of Genesis, where the spiritual realm is established, it is done so in a poetic form, it is done so in a way that takes us out of "this world" and
brings us into the generalities of spiritual being. Even that is conceptual, and to experience the depth of the spiritual dimension, we need to go beyond any
concept of cause and effect; because in God, there is just ONE, and in ONE there is no cause or effect. So, the foundation of living from the spiritual
dimension is in proportion, or our experience is in proportion to our being able to let go of any concept of what spirituality is, being able to go into a state of
no-thingness, to go into a state of silence whereby we begin to transist the activity of the mind, the sensations of the body, and into a dimension of
consciousness that is universal, without beginning or end.

This foundation permeates every aspect of being. The spiritual foundation is the essence of all life, all expression, all creation; but we can’t conceive it, we
can’t name it. We can let go of concepts, to experience it. Letting go is a giving, it is a flowing out. As concepts flow out of us, where do they go? They go into
the ethers, they go into this dimension, and if there is an awareness of this infinite Presence, concepts dissolve as they are let go. The power of this spiritual
foundation is in existence within itself, within this dimension. It is omnipotence, so there is nothing to use, there is nothing to gain, there is only an attitude of
releasing. The nature of the spiritual dimension is good. This good is also infinite, for this dimension is infinite. But it is a mystery, so we are not going to try
and grab hold of it or understand it. We can experience it in that place in consciousness and within ourselves, that is deeper than any concept. ... When we
are in the depth of Soul, we are aware of the Ocean and of the expression as one.

For Meditation: "All know that the drop merges into the ocean, but few know that the ocean merges into the drop." - Kabir

Class, and Tape: LUELLA OVEREEM: THE 1992 GREEN BAY CLOSED CLASS
"Spiritual Identity: Unwrapping the Mummies," Tape 1 Side 1 *LISTEN AT: http://www.infinite-invisible.net/AudioFilesPage.html

It really does seem as though we have the same subject every time: spiritual identity. I think that’s been the main theme, the last several classes. It’s why we’
re here, after all, to realize spiritual identity. It’s the one principle that is the answer to every problem, the realization of spiritual identity; that’s the whole
spiritual path: going from material sense to spiritual consciousness. As humans, that is what we are doing, living in a world of illusion, believing that what we
see out here is reality; and what we
see out here is our own state of consciousness, appearing as. If your state of consciousness is the human state, the
belief in two powers, then that’s what you see, and that’s what you experience. There isn’t any power in the things that we see, the power is in the
Consciousness that we are in our spiritual
I-dentity. Three-quarters of us, probably, have been in this work many, many years, and we need to take stock,
now and then, and see if we are making as much progress as we should be, and if we aren’t, why not? We are supposed to be the "ten righteous men" that
are saving the world. That doesn’t mean that we are trying to patch up our humanhood. We are not in this Work, on this Path, to improve our individual,
personal humanhood. We are in it to realize Who we really are, our spiritual identity, and to see what’s
really here.

For Meditation: "Evil is not a reality, but is a false belief. As long as you hold this belief in mind, it will not break, just as a delicate glass will not break while it
is siting packed carefully in cotton-wool. To break it you have to drop it, and drop it on a hard surface. It is the same with any false belief: we must be willing
to let go of the belief in two powers, willing to know the truth. In that willingness to know the truth, we are prepared to receive impartations of the truth from
within."

"Looking for a healing can be a barrier to receiving it. Our goal is not the improving of humanhood, but the opening of consciousness that we may discern
the presence of spiritual Reality. Desire to change evil appearances into good appearances is a barrier because both human good and human evil are a
false belief, two sides of the
same coin. To attain spiritual realization, we have to give up all interest in whether our humanhood is called good or evil. When
we drop the problem, we are dropping all desire for a solution to the problem, and we are taking no thought for better humanhood."

"Every problem we are faced with is a temptation to desire good instead of evil, and thus be held in the belief in two powers. A problem is merely an absence
of God-realization. God cannot be experienced while we are believing that God is a great power that can be used to fulfill our desires. Dropping your desires
is a preparation for prayer." -
Luella, from the March, 1976 Lesson

... Beyond Everything, and Nothing, I AM ...

************

"I embody the resurrection, and so I am going to take you back to an exercise we have had several times in my class work, in which you ask yourself: "What is
God?" If you answer "God is love" you are wrong. If you answer "God is life" you are wrong. In other words you go through every synonym you have ever
heard in the Bible, in metaphysics, or in mysticism, until you do not have one word left in your mind, not a single concept of God. Then you will find yourself
face to face with God, but not as long as you have a concept. Why? Because you would be depending on a concept only. In fact as long as you are
depending on a God, you will fail. Why? Because I is God, and there is no other beside that. Therefore, if you would like to depend on truth, there is only one
truth to depend on: I am the truth." - Joel, from CONSCIOUSNESS TRANSFORMED, pg. 497-498
