EXCERPTS FROM TAPES, FOR STUDY, PRACTICE, AND MEDITATION

    SUNDAY, JULY 2 - at THE INN OF CHICAGO - 11:00 A.M.

JOEL S. GOLDSMITH: THE 1959 TUESDAYS AT HALEKOU

"Know Thyself - Nature of Demonstration,’" Tape 2, Side 1

Question: "Why the material world at all?"

Answer: The answer is because we have accepted two powers, good and evil; and as long as human consciousness accepts two
powers, there will be a material universe. Every individual has the opportunity to overcome the material universe in proportion as they
overcome in themselves the belief in two powers. Jesus said that he overcame it. He announced that he had overcome the world, and
as he was the Wayshower, he evidently meant, then, that you can go and do likewise. But it’s an individual matter. Never believe that
the world is going to be overcome collectively. The world, the material world, is going to exist forever, as long as there is one single
individual on the face of the globe who believes in two powers, who accepts two powers. That individual will then and thereby
externalize a material universe. So the material universe can only be entertained by you, or me, because of the belief in two powers.
When that belief in overcome, then the material world has been overcome for you, not for those who still accept two powers.

Jesus, himself, did not attain the Absolute until long after the Crucifixion, until long after his Ascension. Up until that time, he had
not attained the Absolute. And as he is the Wayshower, you may be certain that you will not attain the ascension until you have been
"crucified." And as you know, there isn’t a student of truth, anywhere, who isn’t studiously trying to avoid the crucifixion, and not only
the crucifixion, but even the ordinary problems that go with spiritual progress. Each one wants to attain the Absolute merely by
saying, "It isn’t so: God is all." Of course, it can’t be done. There is Something in the consciousness of every individual that speaks to
them from the very moment that they are touched by the Spirit, and it is That which speaks to them that is the link between our
    humanity and our divinity.

Now, it is at this period in which we believe that from now on we enter the "land of milk and honey," or light and beauty, and it is
then that the shocks begin to come, because that is when our problems begin. Up until that time, the problems were merely mental or
physical, but now they really become life or death, "to be or not to be." Now, just when you are getting well established in your
spiritual life, that is when you will find Jesus in the wilderness, suffering from three temptations. As you go back and read that
experience, you wonder how could it have happened to Jesus the Christ, and at that stage of his development; how could he have
been tempted to glorify himself, to enrich himself, to use personal powers? Then you will know why it is that we have the experience,
just when we think we are entering the kingdom of God, of finding out that our trials begin, our temptations. That is why I have many
good laughs, in my mail, sad ones sometimes, but laughs, nevertheless, when I read of the amount of people who want initiation and
God-realization. I just wonder what would happen to them if they really came up against initiation and had to go through some of
those fiery trials that are included in every initiation of the spiritually illumined. How many "Lot’s wives" there would be to turn around
and look back at that good ol’ city? No, the reason for this is this: we have become accustomed to "good health," and if we haven’t, at
least we’d like to be. Oh, we’d love to become accustomed to good health. I think, sometimes, we envy the people who say that they
are 40, 50, 60 years of age and never had a day’s illness in their lives. We’d like to be like that. But it isn’t to be, not on the spiritual
path, because on the spiritual path, you first have to lose your life before you can gain spiritual life. That is, you have to lose your
physical sense of life. You have to lose that sense which believes that it is living because the heart beats so much, or the lungs, or the
digestion, or the elimination. You have to come to the point where it is your Life that is living the body, not the body living the life.

Peace on earth can only be established through a spiritual element, not through treaties or warfare, arguments. Man has to find the
peace within himself, and as there are enough of us that find this inner peace and experience it, then the whole world will experience it.
It will be impossible for there to be warfare. The war is within ourself; and "The natural man receiveth not the things of God." Why?
Because there is a dichotomy within the argument of good and evil, a selfhood apart from God ... .

TUESDAY, JULY 11 - at UNITY ON THE NORTH SHORE - 7:30 P.M.

GENESIS, Awakening From the Dream, by Virginia Stephenson,

Chapter 7: "The Fourth Day: Illumination Through Love"

The fourth day is the high point in this hymn of unfolding creation. This is the keystone experience in our day, the key to living in
the Light. In the everpresent Now, there is full illumination, revealing the rhythm and order of the universe, including all manifestations
of light and love. As our Soul-faculties are fully opened to the everpresent light of infinite Being, we, too, discover our own rhythm and
    order of fulfillment.

Remember, these verses have nothing to do with the solar system as such; the sun, moon, and stars are but symbols for deep
mystical meaning. The ancients of old spoke of the sun symbolically as the Sun of Righteousness, which made everything grow,
producing spiritual fruitage. This greater light of the sun represents the Messiah, the Christ, the Spirit of God individualized as the
Son. Just as the warmth and light of the sun makes everything come to fruition, so the Son of God opens our consciousness to the
omnipresence of infinite good, and we bear the rich fruit of the Spirit.

We are fully aware of the Light within us on the fourth day. Our faculties of Soul are responding to the Son, and we live in the light
of day. Jesus said, "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work." [John 9:4]
We can only work when our conscious awareness is governed and illumined by the light of I AM.

From ancient times the moon has been symbolic of the mental realm. Here it signifies the illumined mind, which rules the night, that
is, human consciousness. The illumined mind is a law of harmony to all relationships in the world of effect. The symbolism here is very
beautiful. As the moon reflects the light of the sun, illuminating the night, so the mind reflecting the truth of Oneness illumines a
darkened understanding. Just as there is only one sun and one moon for earth, so there is only one Son and only one mind,
unconditioned and pure. And just as the moon cannot create light itself but reflects the light of the sun, so it is that the mind is not
creative but reflects the light of the Son.

The darkness of ignorance cannot impinge upon those who have the illumined mind, because they are a law unto themselves. We
are our own inner light as we turn inwardly and face the Sun of Righteousness, the Son of God within us. Christ Jesus had the
illumined mind that reflected truth and love. He revealed, "... I am the light of the world: he the followeth me shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life." [John 8:12] When we understand that the function of the mind is to reflect the light of the Son, we are
a light, because we are keeping our mind stayed on God.

JOEL S. GOLDSMITH: THE 1959 TUESDAYS AT HALEKOU

"Immanuel - God With Us, Nature of the Carnal Mind,’" Tape 2, Side 2

Our need, as students on this particular path, is to recognize that whatever your experience is to be will be an emanation of your
own consciousness. God, infinity, eternality, immortality, is your consciousness in its purest state. That is what we are when we are
the Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. We are not ourselves, we are God expressed as individual Being, that is, the one Life, the
one Soul, that is forever expressing Itself in all of Its purity, eternality, immortality, as individual Being. It is only when the belief of two
powers enters our consciousness that we find ourselves cast out of the Garden of Eden, and then we are human beings who have to
"earn our living by the sweat of our brow;" we are human beings who live lives, sometimes good, sometimes evil, sometimes healthy,
sometimes sick, sometimes rich, sometimes poor, but for most people, the negative takes up most of their lives. All of this because we
now have developed, through this belief of good and evil, a consciousness of our own, a mind of our own, a life of our own, and we
refer to it as "my life," or "your life," or "my mind," or "your mind." So, we find that we have a "life" to lose, or a "mind" to lose. The
search for truth, all through the ages, has been a search for the way to return to God-consciousness. That is, all human experience is
the Prodigal’s experience. The Prodigal has a certain amount of his father’s substance, with which he starts out, but each day that he
lives he uses up some of it, and in the end he has none of it left. So is human experience: You start out in life with some measure of
God-life, but having appropriated it to yourself and having called it "my life," you begin instantly to use it up; and by the time you have
reached "three score years and ten," or twenty, you’ve used it all up, and with it your strength and mental capacities, and so-forth.
The spiritual life means the finding of a way, or the living of a mode of life, that will enable us, as the Prodigal did, to return to the
Father’s house, and there be robed with royal robes of Sonship, the jeweled ring of spiritual authority. That is exactly what happens
when men start on the search for the "Holy Grail." What they are seeking, just as years and ages ago they sought in the realm of
Alchemy, [is] to turn the "dross" into "gold." So, on the spiritual path, we are seeking to turn our human life, a life made up of both
good and evil, back into its original essence, or Divine Consciousness, or God-life, or God-mind.

For Meditation: "You see, the whole purpose of Scripture is to teach ‘Immanuel.’ That’s the whole purpose of Scripture, from Genesis
to Revelation. ‘Where I am, God is;’ and it is in the degree of our recognition and realization [of Immanuel] that our human life begins
gradually to improve and ultimately to fade into the spiritual life." - Joel, from the tape.

JOHN STEPHENSON: THE 2006 WAIKIKI CLASS

"Our Purpose In Life," Tape 1, Side 1 (No. 0601)

As we develop our awareness of this spiritual dimension within, we walk a Middle Path. We do not leave the world, we do not
abandon our fellow man to the pairs of opposites of "this world" because we have found another way. Being a Way of love, we stay in
the world, we deal with the world, we deal with all the aspects of this material sense of life; but we do it from the standpoint of Spirit.
We do it with the awareness that as we let this Spirit live in us, it becomes, as Paul said, "I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth my life."
That doesn’t mean that we are going to be removed into a monastery. If you look at the activity of the Christ in Jesus, he was in the
nitty-gritty of this world. He was in an occupied land preaching "love your enemy," preaching forgiveness; saying, "Don’t you realize
that you are the temple of the living God."

... The hinges of the door that we open to the spiritual dimension of life are oiled in gratitude. It is what makes this flow. It keeps
the Circle intact. In THE MYSTICAL I, Joel talks a lot in the end about "the rhythm of God." It is gratitude that keeps us in this rhythm
of God. For as we see Grace functioning, the spiritual activity functioning in our life, that elevates us out of the limitations of material
sense. Our gratitude reinforces that, and it is a constant ebb and flow.

... For presenting the mystical life, it has always been broken down into degrees. The First Degree is becoming aware and really
communing with the I within. The Second Degree is practicing that awareness in the world and seeing how it transforms our life. What
looks like healings, what looks like life changes are really this expression put into practice. In a way, the more problems we have, the
more situations we have to face, the greater our awareness of this inner I becomes, until we are at that point where problems come
and they just dissolve. We see it and we don’t react; we see a problem, and instantly it is a non-issue; and suddenly it just is not a
problem, it is no longer there. That Third Degree, or what is termed the Master Consciousness, is that life that spreads love, that
elevates man out of this hypnotism, this belief that there is power in effect.

Class, and Tape: LUELLA OVEREEM: THE 1992 GREEN BAY CLOSED CLASS

"Spiritual Identity As Healing and World Work," Tape 3 Side 1

    *Listen to this tape: http://www.infinite-invisible.net/AudioFilesPage.html

God expresses Itself as Life, and there isn’t any beginning and end to Life, It has always been. So, Life, or God, isn’t ever
reincarnated; but to human sense we seem to be reincarnated. We come into the visible realm, and leave it, and come back again, but
it’s the same Life all the time. Nobody knows, exactly, but it’s God-activity that is going on all the time, "here," or "there," in the visible
or the invisible. It’s according to our state of consciousness, what we’re doing. Joel says that to the human sense we have incarnated
and we will reincarnate, and it appears that we are a life within a Life, that there are two of us, the one who sits here writing and the
real One, which is the intelligence, life, and being of my individual Self, my true identity. In my true identity, I have never been born
and I’ll never die, but the human outer sense of us comes and goes." [see THE ALTITUDE OF PRAYER, pg. 43] To me, the way it came
to me when I first found the Infinite Way was that it was like an "orbit" that we’re on. We come through the visible realm, here, and we’
re seen, and we go on out of it, in it and out of it, and that appears as what we call "birth" and "death," but it has no effect on the
person who’s doing it, who’s living in his orbit. But to the others, outside, it appears that we come and we go.
