EXCERPTS FROM TAPES, FOR STUDY, PRACTICE, AND MEDITATION

SUNDAY, APRIL 2  - at THE INN OF CHICAGO - 11:00 A.M.

JOEL S. GOLDSMITH: THE 1963 LONDON WORK
"I Am the ‘Way’,” Tape 7, Side 1

One passage of Scripture, incorrectly interpreted, has kept our world in spiritual darkness for 1700 years.
That same passage of Scripture, correctly interpreted, can set the world free. But to accomplish this, there must be the “ten righteous men in
the city” to show forth the correctness, the rightness, the fruitage of an understanding of that passage. The passage is, “I am the way.” On this
one passage hinges man’s spiritual ignorance, spiritual darkness, or spiritual enlightenment; and of course, spiritual enlightenment means
freedom, peace, abundance, all that the Master meant to convey, when he said, “I am come that ye might have life, and that ye might have life
abundantly.” When we personalize that passage, “I am the way,” and believe that it refers to a person, we are then in spiritual darkness. We are
not worshiping God, we are worshiping  “person,” and more especially a person who says, “I can of my own self do nothing ... If I speak of myself
I bear witness to a lie.” Think of the degree of spiritual ignorance in which one lives, the degree of spiritual darkness, when one worships and
prays to someone who frankly and openly declares, “I can of my own self do nothing ... If I speak of myself I bear witness to a lie.” Rightly
interpreted, “I am the way” means what it says: the Way, the Truth, the Life, life more abundant, is to be found in I, the I that I am, the I that you
are, “For you shall call no man on the earth your father, there is but one Father, and this is God.” Therefore, if God is your Father, then if “I and
my Father are one,” then you and your Father are one. It is in that oneness that you find spiritual freedom, spiritual harmony, spiritual grace, a
life by grace, “Not by might, not by power, but by MY spirit, saith the Lord.” I is the way, and that way reveals that "I and my Father are one,” and
“Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.”

For Meditation: "Since God alone IS, and is omnipresence, prayer, true prayer, is a state of consciousness, a  conscious communion in union."

VIRGINIA STEPHENSON: THE 2003 ALBUQUERQUE CLASS
"Contemplating Creation," Tape 2, Side 2 (No. 0331)

When we look at the ministry of Jesus, which was only three years, his disciples went out and healed in his name; and when it says “in his
name,” it means in the name of I. They had caught the message that there is only one Ego, and that is God. So, he sent the 70 out, perhaps
they had only been with him several years, I guess, but they went out and did wonderful healing work. They came back very enthusiastic, saying
that even the Devil was subject unto them in his name. Jesus said, “Rejoice not that the devils are subject unto you but that your name is writ in
heaven.” So that the healing grace was not in any power they had, it was in the right-identification in knowing Who they were, that when they
had accepted his instruction to “Call no man on earth your father, for there is one Father, even God, who is the father of us all.” They had
accepted that truth, and he also instructed them, and said, “Henceforth, know you no person after the flesh.” He was telling them to look through
the appearance. He said, “Judge not by appearances, judge righteous judgment,” and the “righteous judgment” is lifting up the I, and seeing
through the appearance to that spiritual Creation, that man of the first chapter of Genesis, incorporeal, invisible, manifestation that is
incorruptible and eternal, and has no beginning and no ending.
Having someone tell you about the birth of a child that is coming up, how would you spiritually handle that? You would know the truth: “Ye
shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” There is no beginning and ending to God’s creation. It just IS: it already divinely is at the
standpoint of perfection. You would not take into your mentality the human picture of a newborn babe, ... the I that I am has no birth date and it
has no death date, because if we have a “birth date,” we have a “death date.” So, this I that I am and this I that you are is the Ancient of Years,
it’s always  been and always will be and it will always express itself as individual being.
So, spiritual maturity, then, is not rejoicing over the healings but that “your name is writ in heaven.” If somebody is benefitted by your
recognition of the truth of Being, and in the lifting up of the I, that is what you rejoice in, not that the appearance of sick matter changes into
good matter, or little matter changes into abundant matter. Those are mental games, and it can be done, but that isn’t our work. Our work is
establishing the truth of Being wherever we go.

GENESIS, Awakening From the Dream, by Virginia Stephenson,
Chapter 4: “
The First Day ... Awakening”

Creation is the activity of divine Principle revealing eternal Life in an infinite way. Spiritually speaking, there is no beginning and no ending
in creation. The Latin Vulgate translation of the Bible begins Genesis in this way: “In principle, God created the heaven and the earth.” Life,
Spirit, is eternally manifesting Itself as incorporeal heaven and earth. With our awakening understanding we see the light and know that there is
a divine Principle revealing Itself as “heaven and earth.”
The spiritual sense of the word heaven is the consciousness of harmony and peace, maintained by Spirit. The spiritual sense of the word
earth is this heavenly consciousness of Light and Love manifesting as spiritual ideas. Thus, Heaven and earth are one, as Principle and Its
ideas are one, and It is good.
As we seek a clearer view of creation unfolding as Consciousness, we close our eyes in meditation and face the darkness within. As yet, the
spiritual ideas are unformed in our awareness, so that we see and hear nothing. There is only a void, a vacuum. Even though we may hesitate
to enter this dark womb of silence, we must, if we are to understand the kingdom of God, for within this darkness the Spirit of God moves .
When Jesus said to his disciples, “... Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught,” [Luke 5:4] he was instructing us to
probe the depths of our being in order to catch the multitude of spiritual ideas. These unseen, but ever available, ideas are waiting to be
brought forth to our conscious awareness, Patiently searching the deep withinness of our being is a form of creative meditation through which
we enter the kingdom of God. We are becoming aware of a reality that cannot be defined; we are drawing upon intuition, which is greater than
our physical senses and human faculties of reason. This new awareness is the beginning of spiritual sense, the first dawning of the light of a
    new day.
“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” [John 1:5] A darkened understanding is one that is ignorant of
the spiritual Presence. Since Truth is omnipresent, there can be no absence of Truth; darkness is but a temporary lapse in awareness of our
original state of being. When there seems to be no spiritual activity, this is our night, but we are resting and waiting patiently for the day, or light.
Day is when the Spirit is active in us, revealing and illuminating the truth of Being. We are awakening from the dream of a material sense of
existence into the spiritual sense of creation. At this point in our unfoldment, we are “the people that walked in darkness [and] have seen a great
light ... .” [Isaiah 9:2] This is the first day of My kingdom.

JOEL S. GOLDSMITH: THE 1963 LONDON WORK
"The Unveiling,” Tape 6, Side 2 (Side 1, Continued - Rescheduled from 3/5/06)

Moses, in teaching that God is beyond knowing, revealed, of course, what must forever stand: that is, that God is incorporeal, spiritual, and
therefore, God cannot be known with the mind. How then, are we to “know God aright”? One wonderful answer in the Bible is that God is in “the
still small voice,” or that God is revealed through the “still small voice.” This would at least give us a cue. In the moment that we have no concept
of God, nothing to pray to, when our mind is completely in a listening attitude, now the vessel is emptied of all of its conceptions. Then, what is
revealed to us, through the still small voice, becomes visible to us as the harmony of spiritual living. This, however, demands of us a great price,
not only that we permit ourselves to be emptied of all concepts of God, but that we also permit ourselves to be emptied of all beliefs that we
know God’s plan for us, God’s laws for us, God’s ways for us. If we can pray, “I know not how to pray, or what things to pray for, but let Thy spirit
bear intercession with my spirit,” we are coming into the highest attitude and altitude of prayer, receptivity, and demonstration.

For Meditation: “You are demonstrating the presence of God every time that you say ‘I’ - close your eyes, turn within with a listening ear - you
are demonstrating the presence of God; and God will reveal Itself. God will reveal God’s presence in the midst of you. But you must ‘empty out a
way.’ You must empty the ‘vessel already full.’ You must enter the silence with no conception. Just as having a concept of God prevents the
demonstration of God, so having the concept of demonstration prevents the demonstration.” - Joel, from the tape.

JOHN STEPHENSON: THE 2005 CHICAGO CLASS
"The Art of Life" Tape 2, Side 2 (No. 0524)

What stops the sense of [spiritual] flow is judgment. So now, here is another tool, a metaphysical tool that we have, and that is judgment.
Jesus said, “Judge not, least ye be judged. ... Judge righteous judgment.” Two parts. “Judgement,” that’s such a Biblical term. So, let’s break
    down judgment into what it is in modern terms. It is naming and labeling: it is saying, “That is evil; that person is a gossip; that situation is bad;
oh, that situation is good; ... . All of that is judgment, because it is all coming from the personal sense. It is all putting qualities of good or evil on
every situation or every individual. Now if we judge, if we do that, and we all do it, it just seems to be part of the conditioning of this world, we are
going to be subject to the same thing. Karma, “as ye sow, so shall ye reap,” is an activity of “this world.” Karma does not exist in “my kingdom.”
There is no karma in the depth of spiritual consciousness, because there is only One. And karma can’t go from lifetime to lifetime, as thought in
the East. If it did, then it would mean that karma had a spiritual context to it, and it doesn’t. Individual life is never touched by karma. Whatever
experiences, in our myth-conception of this world, we bring to ourselves, good or evil, if they are not washed in consciousness, in the awareness
of this oneness, when we make the transition, it is going to be revealed to us. [Then] we have a chance to enter and to continue on experiencing
life, working through all of the limitations that would bind us to concepts, any concept. Again, it says in Scripture, “That which you bind on earth,
you bind in heaven; that which you loose on earth, you loose in heaven.” What does that mean? Whatever concept you hold as reality, here, is
what you are conditioning yourself for out of the physical. When we uncondition and deprogram ourselves, we find that right here and now we
start glimpsing the spiritual nature of life, we start glimpsing heaven, which is this atmosphere of peace, of “My peace.” ... When we “take off”
everything that defines us, humanly, what is revealed is our true identity, our individuality.

TUESDAY, APRIL 25  at
259 SKYLINE DR., CARPENTERSVILLE  - 7:30 P.M.

Class, and Tape:
LUELLA OVEREEM: THE 1992 GREEN BAY CLOSED CLASS
"Meditation Is the Way," Tape 1 Side 2 *   Listen To This Tape!

You can’t forgive anybody, really, unless you know their spiritual identity. We say, “let God forgive the person, or forgive us,” and yet, in a
way, God can’t forgive anybody, because God doesn’t know about any evil. God doesn’t know that anybody has done anything they shouldn’t
do, and of course, really, they haven’t! In another sense, God enables us to forgive, which is what it comes down to; because when we have that
inner peace, that contact with God, we can see, realize, spiritual identity. When you realize spiritual identity, there isn’t anything to forgive a
person for. “Forgive” means “pardon,” and that implies that they they’ve done something you think they shouldn’t have, something, in some
degree, of error. But you see, that’s all in the human sense, that’s all in the realm of illusion. The truth is spiritual identity, there’s nobody but
God. It doesn’t make any difference if it’s your kids, your next door neighbor, or Hitler. Any individual on this earth is spiritual identity, whether
they know it or not, and whether or not they have any idea that they are. When we know it, it’s automatic forgiveness. You see, there is nobody
on this earth that can do anything to us, anymore than there is anybody that can do anything for us. The good is God, and the evil is nobody.
There is only God, and so, any thing we experience, in the way of being a victim of evil of some kind, is at best because of our ignorance of the
truth. There can’ t be any injustice of any degree, right on through to crime of the worst kind you can think of, couldn’t take place (or appear to)
unless the so-called “victim” of it believed in two powers. If you believe that there’s good and evil, if you believe that there are people who can
do good or evil to you, that can be just or unjust, then that’s what you can experience. ... Whatever we’re accepting as real, in our
consciousness, is what we experience. So, it’s that same thing that we keep coming back to: it’s how I see you that determines my experience
with you. Another way of saying it is “if you see a man stealing a wallet, don’t believe he’s a thief. It isn’t him; and if he’s stealing your wallet, it’s
because you’re believing he is, or somebody is. You’re believing that there is somebody, walking around on the earth, that’s not God, not God
Being. No matter how horrible people appear to be acting - and that’s a tough one, because you can’t listen to the news or read a paper without
hearing a million things that are going wrong in the world, that are horrible and unjust and unfair. ... What you are doing, when you are forgiving,
is acknowledging spiritual identity, and there isn’t any person, any individual who has ever walked the earth who isn’t God Being, no matter what
they do or how they act or what they say.

For Meditation: "The picture of the snake and the rope is an illustration of the story of the rope that was, in the absence of light, mistaken for a
deadly snake. The light revealed what was actually present: a rope - not a snake. Where did the snake go? Nowhere. There was no snake. The
snake existed only as an image in the mind, a false belief, an illusion. A false belief was “destroyed” by knowing the truth. Nothing real is ever
destroyed, because Reality is God, and God is eternally present.”

"As long as you judge by appearances, appearances is all you will have, and you will not be nourished by pictures, you will not be fulfilled by
pictures. You will not be fulfilled by anything less than surrendering this picture-in-the-dark of ‘you’, and letting God reveal the Self of you, Itself.
How? By doing what the principles say to do: abiding in the Word, judging righteous judgment, not judging by appearances, resisting not the
pictures called evil, forgiving the pictures of sin, lack, disease, and acknowledging God in all your ways. Only when you are doing these things
are you not judging, and therefore, living by appearances.."
                                                                                                    - Luella, from the April, 1976 Lesson

    ************
“All over this world there are prayer groups praying for world peace, and I do not think I am exaggerating when I say that ninety-nine percent of it
is a waste of human energy. Why? Because they are all going to a spiritual God to find a human solution based on their ideas of the rightness
of it. Until you understand that God is Spirit, you will never be successful with prayer - whether on the personal level, the national level, or the
international level. When you come to the conclusion that God is spirit, you will then seek the intervention of spirit, and you will watch in what
    way it unfolds humanly.”
